Today on our 2017 Toyota Camry, we'll be taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero roof rack. Part number for our crossbars today is RRVA118B-2. For our Rhino-Rack 2500 series legs, we're using RRRLKVA. For our custom fit kit for our Camry, we're using DK321. The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars are an aerodynamic aluminum crossbar that will be perfect for your vehicle's roof. It's going to allow you to carry many roof rack accessories on your vehicle's rooftop. The roof rack system allows for channel mount accessories.
We just have to remove the weather strip. You can also cut this down to place in between where your channel mount is. It also allows for clamp-on accessories that wrap around your crossbars. The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars come in many different lengths. You just want to be sure that they don't extend out past your mirrors. They have a 165-pound weight capacity. Here you can see everything that's included with our kit.
The only thing that you will need to provide is a flat tape measure, or tape measure of some kind. We have our fit kit pieces here, our clamp and our rubber portion for the bottom. We have the endcap for our crossbar, the covers and the foot pack for our crossbar. We have a lock for the endcap of our crossbar, a key for the endcap of our foot pack, our included torque tool, that tape measure that we've provided, and then of course our crossbar. You can see we already have one of our foot packs on and installed as well as our locking endcap there.
We're going to show you how to put the last one together and then how we install it onto our crossbar. We're going to start by taking the actual foot pack. We're going to undo this bolt here. With that removed, then take your clamp. We're just going to place it over the top. We'll take our bolt and we're going to start to tighten that down once again.
We don't want to tighten it down too much, because we will need to tighten it down so that it secures onto our roof. We'll then slide this nut here into the channel of our crossbar. Before we secure that in place, we're going to remove the bottom part. This just pops right off. We're going to attach the rubber bottom. We'll squeeze each end together, making sure that all the holes have been closed. Once we know that's completely sealed, we can take it, making sure that the arrow on the plastic part of our foot pack is facing towards the outside or towards the clamp. We want to make sure that our arrows on the rubber portions are facing the same way, which will be out away from us. We'll secure that down. Now we can measure our overhang. We'll take our flat tape measure. We're going to measure this strip here. We have that at 15 and a half centimeters. With that in place, we'll take our included torque tool and we're going to tighten down this bolt here. That's just going to hold our foot pack in place on our crossbar. I like to double check that measurement just to make sure it didn't move. Now we can take our locking endcap for our crossbar. We're going to place this on, and then we can take that included tool and lock that down. Now we'll open up our vehicle doors. We can take our crossbar and load that up, pulling it across to our side. I'll just go to the other side and make sure it's sitting in the correct spot. Now we'll go to our instructions and check out the measurement that we need for the crossbar spread, and we'll start to tighten these down. We're going to measure from the center of the front foot pack to the center of the back. We're going to have 66 centimeters. We're going to make sure we measure both sides so that we know that it's completely accurate and straight across. Now we can take our included tool once again and tighten down this bolt here. I'm going to tighten it down so that my clamp sits just up against my door frame. We'll do the same thing to the other side. Now we'll go back and forth to each side, tightening it down evenly. I do about five to 10 turns on each side. Go to the opposite side and do the same amount, until we have that completely tightened down. You'll see the skinnier part on our torque tool has straightened out. That's when you know that we have enough torque behind the bolt and it's completely tightened down. Once again, we want to make sure we do the same thing to the other side. Now we'll close up our doors and place on our locking endcaps. Our locking endcaps are going to help to prevent any theft or tampering of our roof rack system. The crossbar and caps are going to help to prevent any theft or tampering of any channel mounted accessories up there. Now with our roof rack completely secured down and our endcaps placed on and locked into place, we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look of the Rhino-Rack roof rack on our 2017 Toyota Camry.

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Thanks to etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
Customer support was great. After reading the instructions and watching the video on how to install the Rhino Rack installation went well. The ski rack has one draw back, if you leave car out over night with skis locked in the ski rack, every thing can be easily stolen. All you need is an Allen wrench to remove the ski rack with the skis. The roof rack has locking covers the prevent theft of the roof rack. The ski rack can be easily removed from the roof rack.
I shopped online retailers namely Amazon and EBAY looking for the cross bar setup I would need for my 2012 Toyota Camry LE. My Camry has a naked roof. The whole experience was confusing. None of the needed components were combined together. I found each component listed separately but nothing to indicate they were the correct components for my car. Then ETRAILER.COM popped up in my search. I simply entered my car’s year, make, and model, and answered the question about the car roof (being naked with no factory installed cargo bars) and suddenly I had a list of the available cross bars for my vehicle with all the necessary components to install them. One or two clicks put the whole thing in my cart for purchase. ETRAILER .COM is your one stop shop. As a side note I purchased Yakima ski racks on sale to install on these cross bars. Another customer asked if these ski racks would fit his car and I explained yes they will with the appropriate cross bars. I sent him to “ETRAILER.COM” so he could get the correct setup. Pictures forthcoming.
love it, no problem and easy to install and take on and off, 47,000 miles on the highway and not a single issue. I even like the song the ladder hums to me driving down the interstate. This is my second Rhino and both have preformed to a high standard.
That was a little more difficult than I had planned it being. But, overall it went smoothly because I followed a video of someone doing an install. I love it!! I already put on my kayak rack too!!
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
I bought this last yr to haul my kayaks on my Toyota camry. Being 5'2", getting them on top of my SUV was next to impossible for me and my daughters. Since then, I have traveled from Michigan, all the way to the west coast with two 13' ft kayaks. These racks have been absolutely perfect in every aspect. I mounted them myself, and checked them regularly to see if they needed adjusted. Not once did they loosen or move. They with stood Traveling with speed limits reaching 80 mph on I84, along with the windy weather on our cross-country trip. My car moved around from the high winds, and the racks stayed put. These racks have by far reached and surpassed every expectation I had when purchasing them. I would not recommend another. Only thing I would recommend is showing installation for both front and back bars, since the measurements are slightly different for both. As I had to figure this out my self, after watching the installation video. Thank you Rhino for providing such a high quality product.
Got it for Toyota Camry SE
Was not that easy to install but got thru it. Nice and sturdy!
VERY IMPORTANT thing to know: if both grooves top and bottom in the tracks are not filled in it will make a very annoying whistling sound anytime you drive over 20 miles per hour. SO- to fill in top use the supplied rubber inserts. To fill in the under grooves use the number strips that come with the rack. Trim to fit all exposed grooves.
DO NOT THROW AWAY NUMBER STRIPS.
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
etrailer helped me replace old parts to fit my old rack to a newer car. Good deal and great fit!
I installed the Rhino Rack roof rack on my 2014 Toyota Camry. The instructions are excellent. It took me about 1 1/2 hours. The rack is solid, fit perfectly and there is no wind noise.
Great product has held up through 2 kayak seasons!
Very well made and functional . . . easy to remove and replace.
Things went well. Customer service was great.
Unfortunately, I was not happy with the Rhino kayak rack that I purchased. It was extremely difficult to put on the vehicle. The directions were not clear or concise. I also cannot use my sunroof. The rack is extremely noisy. It was advertised as being relatively quiet at highway speeds. The quality of the product was also disappointing. My first and last Rhino product.
My son's Rhino rack has been installed. We bought a rack that was supposed to fit his 2014 Camry for skiing last year. It was a nightmare to install and created unbearable wind noise. He removed it after 1 trip.
This Rhino is well made, fits perfectly with the custom kit and has no wind noise! I don't know if this one will be removed even at the end of ski season.
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
Love the rack, only comment is the installation instructions could be made a little clearer.
My roof rack and kayak racks were delivered promptly. Installation was fairly simple. Thank you, etrailer! I was impressed by how quickly I received my order, especially since other outdoor related products seem to take much longer to receive.
Fast delivery and good items inside box and fix to the top roof my car and look very quality..... you are the best company. But unfortunately I misunderstand myself to buy it without complete parts. My first time to look for roof rack to carry kayak but I miss to read what should need more These part RRVA118B-2, RRRLKVA..
you are good company. Love it.
Well made and easy to install.
Took me a bit of time to figured it out but the rack save me a lot of space and awkward sitting inside the car.
